About Cheryl (chiyo)

CHIYO - Japanese origin, translated into English as “eternal, thousand worlds”

Born and raised in Glasgow, I have always had a passion for realism artwork. My inspiration ranges from Vintage Pin up classics of Gil Elvgren to the gore and grotesque Special FX of Barry Gower. Straight out of University, I grasped the opportunity to undertake a tattoo apprenticeship in the heart of the city. Like all great goals in life, we hit every bump and pothole in the road…and for this city that says a lot!

Many moons on, I can now proudly say I have been professionally tattooing since 2017. Within that time I have had the opportunity to develop my artistic skills on skin and continue to evolve my signature aesthetic.

My preferred style of tattooing is Greyscale, Graphic Realism. However quite recently I have pushed out of my comfort zone, and delved into the world of colour, learning new techniques to develop visually striking artwork. I have a strong eye for detail therefore I strive to capture the textures within every piece.
